Abstract

The use of conjugated polymer in electronics devices is believed to be the driving force for the tremendous R & D activity involving these materials. In this study, electropolymerization of N-methyl pyrrole/carbon nanotubes composites has been performed galvanostatically in ionic liquid medium. A well-ordered polymer composites of poly(methylpyrrole)/carbon nanotubes (pMPy/CNTs) nanostructures has been observed as revealed by atomic force microscopy. The current vs. voltage curves demonstrates an ohmic nature of the synthesized polymers. pMPy/CNT films are found more conductive than the pMPy films. It is believed that, this route can be further fined to other organic conjugated systems and, thus, opens an avenue for application for a host of polymers in electronic devices.
