Abstract

In this study, we have prepared Bi0.9Y0.1Fe1-xMnxO3 (0 <= x <= 0.07) samples by rapid liquid phase sintering method. XRD confirms the pure phase formation without any impurity for all samples. An anomaly near the Neel temperature in dielectric measurement has been observed in the sample with x = 0, which suppressed towards lower temperature as Mn concentration increases from x = 0 to 0.07. This indicates the suppression in Neel temperature, which is further confirmed by magnetization versus temperature results. Magnetization versus field (M-H) curves recorded at room temperature reveal that the value of magnetization increases from 0.046 to 0.62 emu/g by increasing the Mn concentration from x = 0 to 0.07 and samples starts to show the saturated ferromagnetic behavior. Polarization versus electric field (P-E) studies demonstrate that the value of polarization decreases from 0.73 to 0.37 mu C/cm(2) as Mn concentration increases from x = 0 to 0.07.
