Abstract

A rapid, simple method has been developed for uniform, well-dispersed coating of silver micro particles of various morphologies on glass substrate by wet chemical method. Particles of silver have been deposited on glass substrate by reducing alcoholic solution of silver nitrate with p-benzaquinone with and without polyvinyl pyrrolidone (PVP) at two different concentrations in the temperature range of 60-70 degrees C. The particle size of the silver particles deposited on glass substrate was found to depend on the concentration of silver nitrate and p-benzaquinone and presence of PVP. The phase formation, morphology, absorption spectra and compositional analysis were studied by using X-ray diffractrometry (XRD), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Spectrophotometry and by EDS respectively.
