Abstract

The studies of binary mixture of cholesteric liquid crystal, Cholesteric Nonanoate and nematic liquid crystal, N-(4-Ethoxy benzylidine)-4-butyle aniline (EBBA), exhibiting the Twist Grain Boundary phases in different structural group. The thermodynamic phase transition of binary mixture was recorded by the Differential Scanning Calorimeter (DSC) at different scanning rate. Optical investigations of Twist grain boundary (TGB) phases showing different types of domain textures. The TGB existence region increases as the weight percentage of EBBA is increased till virtual tricritical point (TCP). This is very excited fact that the temperature range of one type of TGB (TGBA*) phase in the CN EBBA mixture at lower concentration of EBBA is lower than those at higher concentration of EBBA.
